The Strategy & Pivot
We stopped trying to sell what the analysts were buying and started selling what the market was searching for. We repositioned the narrative entirely around CMMS and built a heavy-duty marketing machine designed specifically to make sales' job frictionless.
As part of the technical foundation, we implemented Marketo and integrated it directly with Salesforce to establish airtight tracking, scoring, and routing.
The Creative Engine & Deployment
Instead of standard SaaS playbook fluff, we anchored the new CMMS narrative with aggressive, highly creative campaigns that gave sales the exact assets they needed to win:
- The “Kill Your Spreadsheets” Disruption: We launched a synchronized, 60-day multichannel campaign targeting facilities and healthcare IT managers who were managing million-dollar enterprise equipment on fragile Excel sheets. We provided the outbound messaging for sales and coordinated marketing air cover through targeted ads, webinar offers, and trade journal sponsorships to surround the target accounts.
- Arming the Sales Engine: To solve the friction of mid-funnel demos, we built an automated, trackable demo video library. Instead of tying up reps or pre-sales engineers on early consideration-stage calls, sales could send tailored demo videos. The Marketo integration fed real-time viewing notifications and engagement data directly back into Salesforce, telling reps exactly when to strike.
- The PR Multiplier: Startups often try to sound like unicorns; we leaned into reality. We pitched and landed a massive feature in MedCity News with the headline: “Here's a Not-so-Sexy Cloud Startup that just Raised $10M from GE, NEA.” This gave the sales team a massive credibility spearhead, allowing them to outpunch their weight class in enterprise deals.
The Outcome
We didn't just run a sprint; we built the structural foundation that scaled the company from 7 employees to 150 right before they raised their next robust funding round.
By replacing industry jargon with buyer truth and arming sales with elite automation, Nuvolo rocketed from $700k to $8M ARR in under two years, ultimately paving the way for a highly successful acquisition by Trane Technologies.
